Course Summary
This course focuses on the science behind sport and exercise and how this us used to develop performance and wellbeing.
This subject is the equivalent of 2 A-levels in Sport and Exercise Science.
With the demands for faster, stronger, more successful athletes nowadays this course gives learners an insight into how this is achieved by covering the key components of Sport and Exercise Science.
You will gain valuable skills as well as an understanding of the different roles within sport and exercise science and detailed insight into how you can progress into roles such as biomechanist, strength and conditioning coaching, analysis, nutritionist, rehabilitation and many more.
This course is well suited to those with a passion for sport and an interest in how sporting performances can continue to develop in the future.
You will gain valuable skills as well as an understanding of the different roles within sport and exercise science.
Learners will study 8 different units over the 2 years. Some of the units included in this course are:
- Sport and Exercise Physiology
- Functional Anatomy
- Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology
- Coaching for Performance and Fitness
- Biomechanics

How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment
Learners will be assessed through a mixture of internal and external assessment. Some units are assessed by an external exam, some by coursework and some by coursework tasks marked externally. Three of the eight units will be externally marked with the remaining five assessed by coursework.
Entry requirements
Grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language and Maths. Grade 4 or above in GCSE Science. Grade 4 in GCSE Physical Education is desirable.
