Course Summary

The qualification is designed to provide you with an insight into the uniformed services as a potential area for employment. It aims to inform and prepare you as a potential recruit for a variety of uniformed services by helping you develop your leadership skills , confidence and knowledge to undertake training with a variety of public services such as the:

- The British Army

- The Royal Navy

- RAF

- Prison Service

- Fire and Rescue Service

- Police.

This qualification will develop your skills and personal qualities in preparation for all areas of employment and progression onto further learning.

Course Details

This qualification will give you a good insight into the skills and activities which the uniformed services require. The units are designed to give you an insight into the necessary skills and knowledge required to work within the public services.

The course will:

- Focus on the study of the uniformed services

- Offer breadth and depth of study incorporating a significant core knowledge and theoretical content.

- Provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills.

Units covered:

Unit 1 – Introduction to uniformed protective services

Unit 2 - Physical preparation for the uniformed protective services

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Coursework - 100%

Entry requirements

Grade 3 in English desirable.

Assessment for this qualification is coursework based including Practical assessments in the form of Portfolio with no exams.

Your next steps...

You will develop your skills and knowledge of the Uniformed Services, helping you to prepare for entry into one of the Uniformed Services or the opportunity to progress further in your studies to Level 3 Public Services, which will help you develop skills in Preparation for Life and Work.

As part of the course there may be visits to the public services and these visits will incur a cost.
