Course Summary

You will develop skills using industry standard software within the dynamic interactive media industry with an emphasis on games development and building levels. Over the two years you will work individually and in groups to create character models, environments and computer game levels. You will complete assignments that will develop vital transferable skills that we help you when looking for jobs and when applying for higher education courses, such as pitching ideas, working with ICT and working for a specified brief to deadlines. Entry requirements

Qualification Type: BTEC National

A grade 4 in English Language is essential.

This course can be taken alongside L3 Esports, providing all entry requirements have been met. There is a mandatory communication task for which learners are required to pitch a presentation to the rest of the group.

Assessment:

This course is 100% coursework based and blends theory with practical assignments. As such, it is essential that learners keep on top of their workload and use their independent study time at college and at home wisely.

All assignments are internally set and assessed and externally verified.

Your next steps...

You will complete the course with a ready-made portfolio of work and many former students have used this to go on to study Games Design and Development at a higher level, through either higher education, for example, university and many have gone on to work in the creative industries as designers, programmers and developers.

There are also excellent progression opportunities at East Norfolk as we have an established Level 4 programme. Stay for another fully funded* year with us to study Creative Enterprise (working in the creative industries), Games, Art and Design or Business.
