If you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 years and over please contact the Advice Shop. Students will need to provide their own overalls, protective footwear and stationary.

You will only be invited to book an interview for your 1st choice course initially.

Course Details

The course is approximately a sixty/forty mix of practical and theoretical content, with the majority of the time being spent in the trade specific workshop area and the rest in key skills study rooms and classrooms. The course is for all students starting the bricklaying work-related route. There are seven units - three that are common to all branches of the construction industry and four that are trade specific. Core units: Safe working practices in construction Information, quantities and communications with others Building methods and construction technology Trade specific units: Basic blocklaying skills Basic bricklaying skills Basic cavity walling Contribute to setting out and basic masonry structures up to DPC The following transferable skills will also be acquired during the course: Communications Application of number Working with others

Entry requirements

Achieve 2 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including Maths & English at grade 3 or above. Demonstrate commitment, motivation and enthusiasm to succeed on the course. Pre-interview task and Assessment at interview.

Your next steps...

On successful completion of this course with a good attendance and behaviour record and reference from the course leader students can progress onto the Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying.
