Course Summary
Sport, Exercise and Fitness can help you take your first steps to a career in sport.
This one year, one block course is designed for progression onto either the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport or the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science.
You’ll learn essential skills such as participation in sport, understanding healthy active lifestyles and how the human body works.
You will learn how to encourage other people to participate in sport and develop your leadership skills through organising and leading activities.
The course is equivalent to one GCSE pass at grade C and above.
Course Details
The qualification consists of 3 mandatory units and 1 optional unit. Mandatory units include:
- Participating in sport
- Anatomy and physiology for exercise
- Introduction to healthy exercise and nutrition
Example optional units include:
- Sports Coaching, Sports Psychology and Fitness.

Entry requirements
A GCSE 2/3 grade profile or evidence of potential.
