Level 2 Qualifications - Digital Games Production

This course has been designed to encourage learners to aspire to a career in the creative industries. Young people who recreationally engage with video games are able to develop skills and knowledge that will enable them to see how their interest can be transposed into a viable career goal. Learners will explore who makes games and who they are made for and also develop and hone key practical skills in digital games production using an industry standard games engine and professional applications. In additional to creating a portion of the game and associated assets, learners will also produce print-based marketing materials using the Adobe Suite.

During the course, learners will cover the following units:

- Digital Media Sectors and Audiences

- Planning and Pitching a Digital Media Product

- Digital Publishing Production

- Digital Games Production.

Qualification Type - BTEC Level 2

A grade 3 in GCSE English Language and Maths is essential. Applicants should have achieved at least a 3 grade in 4 or more subjects at Level 2.

Assessment:

The BTEC Level 2 First Award in Creative Digital Media Production comprises of 4 units, 3 of which are internally assessed with the final unit being externally set and marked by Pearson.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners are able to progress to Level 3 study. Relevant courses would include Games Production, Information Technology, Digital Video Production, Graphic Communication, amongst others. Learners will need to have achieved at least five Level 2 qualifications at C / 4 / Pass or above to study a full Level 3 programme.
