Course Summary

This course is designed for students who want an introduction to art and design. It will allow you to gain skills in 2D and 3D Art and Design, including specialist areas such as Graphic Design, 3D Design, Fine Art and Printmaking.

Course Details

Throughout the course you will study:

- Factors that influence the creation of art and design works across different movements and disciplines.

- How visual language is used through art and design works.

- Employment opportunities and organisations in the art and design industry.

- Understand how to respond to art and design briefs.

- Create, present and review your own art and design work.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment - 100% coursework.

Entry requirements

Grade 3 in English Language is essential. Evidence of potential is required through a portfolio of work if you have not completed an Art subject.


Your next steps...

On successful completion, students can progress on to our Level 3 courses in Fine Art, Textiles & Fashion, Graphics, Photography, or 3D Design. After gaining a full A Level in an Art or Design subject you can progress to the Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design or apply to university to study a creative degree. Alternatively, you may wish to go into employment or an apprenticeship.
