Course Details

If you love everything about creating graphics, illustrations and layout for digital apps and websites and would like to work in that field, then this Level 3 Graphic and Digital Design course is the perfect way to prepare for university or creative work.

On the Level 3 Graphic and Digital Design course, you will:

  • Discover how graphic design plays a pivotal role in conveying messages through art.
  • Explore graphic design through traditional mediums and cutting-edge digital formats.
  • Get to know and use industry-standard artistic tools, techniques, and software.
  • In addition to graphic design, you will explore the fundamentals of photography. You’ll acquire essential concepts, from detailed planning to mastering camera techniques, composition, lighting, and the art of post-processing and editing.

On successful completion you will get a recognised qualification which you can add to your creative CV:

  • Two year BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma. This can generate up to 168 UCAS points. Please note these UCAS points are for a Distinction* and lower grades generate considerably fewer points.
  • The Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels.
  • All assessment is via real-world project-based course work. There are no end of year exams.

Entry requirements

Applying for this Graphic & Digital Design course is easy.

All you need to do is fill in our short online application form. After you have created an account you will be able to provide links to online work, upload relevant documents and book an interview slot.

Skills set:

  • We value your creative passion and skills above all else. However, you will also need to demonstrate that you are able to work at Level 3 (A Level standard). This means achieving at least four GCSEs at grades 4-9 (C-A*), including English, or other equivalent qualifications. Other grades will be considered on a case by case basis. Places are conditional based on this achievement and we will discuss options with you if you do not attain these.
  • For school leavers we will require evidence of your predicted and actual grades, ideally backed up by a school reference.
  • This course is for illustrators and graphic and digital designers who want to create content for media applications. You should have a strong interest in this area, but direct experience is not essential.
  • Please note you will not be able to enrol if you will be under the age of 16 on 31st August. Applications from people under this age are still welcome, but will be deferred to the following year.

Your next steps...

You may wish to progress on to undergraduate study, including the Digital and Multi Media degrees. You may also progress into employment in the creative industries or into an apprenticeship.
