Applications made before 01 January will be considered while blocking subjects for our timetable. If you apply after this date, the blocking for subjects will have already been determined. If the subjects you have chosen do not fit into the blocking, you will be notified as soon as possible, to arrange a conversation with our Sixth Form team in order to discuss alternatives.

The Cambridge Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma qualification is designed to provide a specialist, work related vocational context to the sports industry. The course is run over two years with students completing 1080 Guided Learning hours of study towards the qualification and is the equivalent to 3 A Levels.

The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure that it supports progression to higher education. In addition, employers and professional bodies have been involved and consulted, in order to confirm that the content is also appropriate and consistent with current practice for students choosing to enter employment directly in the sport sector.

The following units make up the course:

In addition to the units studied in the Single and Double Award sport courses, students complete the following units:

• Business in Sport (Exam)
• Improving fitness for sport and physical activity (Internal Assessment)
• Sports Nutrition (Internal Assessment)
• Working in active leisure (Internal Assessment)
• Practical Skills for sport and physical activity (Internal Assessment)
• Biomechanics and movement analysis (Internal Assessment)

Science 4-4 | PE 5/Merit (or equivalent if studied) | English Language 4

We also highly recommend that students are participating in Physical Activity outside of school.

Progression into the second year of the course is reliant on students achieving a minimum Pass grade in all Year 1 components.

BA (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science.
