Applications made before 01 January will be considered while blocking subjects for our timetable. If you apply after this date, the blocking for subjects will have already been determined. If the subjects you have chosen do not fit into the blocking, you will be notified as soon as possible, to arrange a conversation with our Sixth Form team in order to discuss alternatives.

The Cambridge Technical Level 3 National Extended Certificate qualification is designed to provide a specialist, work related vocational context to the sports industry. The course is run over two year with students completing 360 Guided Learning hours of study towards the qualification and is the equivalent to 1 A Level.

The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure that it supports progression to higher education. In addition, employers and professional bodies have been involved and consulted, in order to confirm that the content is also appropriate and consistent with current practice for students choosing to enter employment directly in the sport sector.

The following units make up the course:

• Body systems and effects of physical activity (Exam)
• Sports coaching and activity leadership (Internal Assessment)
• Sports organisation and development (Exam)
• Performance analysis in sport and exercise (Internal Assessment)
• Practical skills in sport and physical activities (Internal Assessment)

Science 4-4 | PE 4/Pass (or equivalent if studied) | English Language 4

We also highly recommend that students are participating in Physical Activity outside of school.

Progression into the second year of the course is reliant on students achieving a minimum Pass grade in all Year 1 components.

BA (Hons) in Sport Studies and Business, if taken alongside A Levels in Business and Mathematics or similar.

BSC (Hons) in Sport Psychology, if taken alongside Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Applied Science and A Level in Psychology or similar.

BA (Hons) in Sports Education and Special and Inclusive Education, if taken alongside an A Level in English Language and a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Performing Arts or similar.

BA (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science, if taken alongside a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Applied Science or similar.
