Applications made before 01 January will be considered while blocking subjects for our timetable. If you apply after this date, the blocking for subjects will have already been determined. If the subjects you have chosen do not fit into the blocking, you will be notified as soon as possible, to arrange a conversation with our Sixth Form team in order to discuss alternatives.

Course Details

We use the OCR examination board specification GCE in Health and Social Care to accredit your qualification. At present you can choose from two levels of award:

AS level – consisting of 3 mandatory units:

Promoting Quality Care
Communication in Care Settings
Promoting Good Health

A level (A2) – 4 mandatory and 2 optional units

There are 16 units you can study, including a range of options that enable you to specialise in an area of your choice. Some examples are: Working in Early Years Care and Education, Complementary Therapies, Health as a Lifestyle Choice, Research Methods in Health and Social Care.

Entry requirements

GCSE English Language 4 | Science 4-4

Progression into the second year of the course is reliant on students achieving a minimum Pass grade in all Year 1 components.
