Course Details

Our course mixes practical and theory lessons to provide you with the skills and knowledge you will need for a career in plumbing and heating engineering.

You will develop your hands-on skills in our modern workshops and work through tasks and projects set by the awarding body, including domestic plumbing and heating systems. You will also explore environmentally sustainable plumbing systems such as heat pumps, with our teaching staff qualified to the latest specifications.

As you progress, you will develop your skills in the technical side of plumbing, covering boilers, advanced heating systems and unvented hot water systems. Modules you will study include complex cold and hot water, central heating, sanitation systems and electrical systems.

Why study with us?

  • Plumbers are one of the most in-demand trades, providing you with many work opportunities.
  • You will benefit from industry talks hearing from companies such as Anglian Water.
  • You will develop excellent professional skills, equipping you for life in the workplace.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment will be predominately through practical tasks in the workshop.

Entry requirements

For Year 1 entry, you will ideally need to have achieved at least GCSE grades 3 or above, including English and Maths.

For Year 2 entry, you will need to have completed Year 1.

These entry grades are set as a guide, however we encourage students who are interested in this course and unsure of the grades they will achieve to submit an application and come along for a discussion with the course lecturer to assess your suitability.

Your next steps...

You can progress onto an apprenticeship or move straight into employment in careers such as a plumber, renewable energy engineer or gas and oil engineer.

Many of our former students have also gone onto start up their own businesses and take on apprentices of their own to continue training plumbers of the future.
