Course Summary

This qualification opens the door to a diverse and rewarding career in countryside management and environmental conservation. It offers the chance to explore a wide range of specialist, technical, and practical skills that build on the essential foundations needed for working in the countryside.

Course Details

You’ll gain hands-on experience in estate maintenance, population surveys, and the safe use of equipment and machinery, while also diving into fascinating modules such as land use and recreation, and pest and predator control giving you the confidence and capability to work effectively in real-world settings.

We work closely with local employers who actively contribute to your learning, helping ensure your training is relevant and up to date with industry standards. Enriching trips, site visits, and guest speakers bring the sector to life, offering demonstrations and insights from professionals working in the field. This practical, experience-led training is the ideal preparation for entering the land and wildlife industries or continuing into specialist further study.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment takes place through synoptics and an externally set written exam.

Entry requirements

You will need to achieve four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English language and Maths.

Your next steps...

Upon successful completion at Merit, you could progress to Level 3 Diploma in Environmental Conservation and Countryside Management. Alternatively you may seek employment or an apprenticeship.
