Course Summary

As a leading agriculture college, you will learn on our 160-hectare operational commercial farm, consisting of arable fields, grazing meadows and woodlands. With cattle and sheep on campus, you will gain hands on experience of farm management and animal husbandry.

Course Details

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to agriculture and related industries, blending practical skills with theoretical knowledge in modern agricultural practices. You will explore crop production, livestock husbandry, and agricultural machinery, while also assisting with estate maintenance. Through hands-on experience in real life settings, you will cement your understanding of crop and livestock management, preparing you for a career in the agricultural sector.

You will gain hands-on experience working on a commercial farm, learning the entire process from seed to harvest. You will learn to operate the latest agricultural machinery, ensuring you are well-prepared for the demands of modern farming. Additionally, you will experience cutting-edge technology with spray drones for precision agriculture and tractor simulators for safe and effective machinery operation.

We also provide enrichment opportunities alongside your course, including taking part in the Royal Norfolk Show and visiting the Lincolnshire Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association (LAMMA) show. We have great links with the Food and Farming Discovery Trust and the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group, among others.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed through a range of methods including multiple choice external exams and synoptic (practical and theory) tasks.

Entry requirements

You will need to achieve four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English language and Maths.
