Course Summary

This Study Programme serves as an ideal introduction to the vehicle maintenance industry, offering hands-on tasks in a dedicated workshop stocked with specialist equipment. You will engage in practical exercises covering a range of essential tasks, including basic routine vehicle maintenance, the removal and replacement of light vehicle engine, electrical, and chassis units and components, as well as vehicle braking, steering, and suspension systems, among other key areas and more.

Units Include:

  • Introduction to vehicle technology and workshop methods and processes
  • Carry out basic routine vehicle maintenance
  • Support Working Relationships in the Automotive Work Environment
  • Health, Safety and Good Housekeeping in the Automotive Environment
  • Support working relationships in the Automotive Work Environment
  • Removing and Replacing Light Vehicle Engine Units and Components
  • Removing and Replacing Light Vehicle Electrical Units and Components
  • Removing and Replacing Light Vehicle Chassis Units and Components
  • Light Vehicle Engine Mechanical, Lubrication and Cooling System Units and Components
  • Inspection, Repair and Replacement of Standard Light Vehicle Tyres
  • Vehicle Braking Systems
  • Vehicle Steering and Suspension Systems

You will experience collaborative learning in a dynamic classroom environment led by specialised tutors, complemented by hands-on training at our fully equipped workshops at our engineering centre in Norwich. Your learning will be recorded on an easy-to-use e-portfolio platform.

1 year course duration.

Entry requirements

You must be between the ages of 16-19. There are no formal academic entry requirements; however, an initial selection interview is mandatory.

Costs:

If you are 16-19 there are no course fees payable, however you may have some costs associated with uniform, equipment etc.
