Course Details

Chemistry is a central science, the study of which complements the study of all other science specialisms. T he
aims of the course are to develop students’
interest in, and enthusiasm for chemistry,
including developing an interest in further
study and careers in chemistry.

We follow the OCR Chemistry A which course allows for the
inclusion of a lot of interesting practical
work forming an integral part of each unit.
This serves to illustrate and reinforce the
theoretical aspects of the subject. The course also
allows students to appreciate how society
makes decisions about scientific issues and
how the sciences contribute to the success
of the economy and society; to develop and
demonstrate a deeper appreciation of the
skills, knowledge and understanding of
how science works and to develop essential
knowledge and understanding of different
areas of chemistry and how they relate to
each other.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a B pass in Additional Science or Chemistry at GCSE and a grade 6 in Mathematics at GCSE.
