Course Summary
Our Phoenix Purple Employment Pathway offers our autistic students the opportunity to develop the confidence, skills and experience required to begin to consider a future in employment. Students undertake a range of mandatory subjects which help develop the core skills required for work whilst at the same time choosing from a range of optional subjects that support wider skill and knowledge development. Students will have the opportunity to work with Course Leaders and a Job Coach to volunteer as a group and to undertake individual work experience.

Number of Days: 4
As part of your course, you will cover the following mandatory subjects:
Planning & Progression (target setting & discussing your targets & progress)
Communication & Confidence development
Personal & Social Development including: Citizenship & Well Being
Work Related Study (including working with a job coach, volunteering and work experience)
Life & Independence Skills- Practical Living Skills, Cooking & Healthy Living
Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths, at a level that is appropriate level for you
Travel & Independence (TITAN Travel Training)
Well being Fridays
In addition to this you will also get to choose from a list of optional subjects to personalise your timetable and learning experience. Optional subjects on this pathway can change each year but some examples are:

Enterprise & customer service skills
Environmental Studies
Film & Creative Writing
Humanities
Learning for work
Music
Out & About- Community Access

How will it be delivered and assessed?
Your tutor will set you individual targets that will help you meet your EHCP outcomes, and your progress will be reviewed against these.
English and Maths qualifications at a level which suit you, assessment will be via formal examination.
On completion of this course, you will also gain a college certificate.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however most learners who access this course will have an EHCP and a formal diagnosis of autism.
Once an application has been made students will be invited in for an interview and assessment day where they will get some tasters of some subjects, experience what it is like to be in a lesson and have the opportunity to talk 1:1 to one of the Course Leaders. Once this has been completed staff will decide if a young person is suitable for the course and an offer letter will be sent out.

Phoenix Purple Vocational PLUS. Some students may be ready to undertake either a GCSE, 1 A Level or a mainstream course alongside Phoenix Purple Vocational Pathway. If you are interested in this option please discuss this with the Head of Area Gemma Burton (Gemma.Burton@ccn.ac.u
Students may progress into a 2nd year on this course if appropriate. Alternatively they may choose to progress on the Inclusive Learning Employment pathway and move onto further courses such as: Ticket, Work Matters (Supported Internship) or onto MINT our Supported Employment Agency.
