Art and Design Diploma Level 1 (A0276)

You can apply for up to two courses (except A Level subjects where you must select a minimum of three).

You will only be invited to book an interview for your 1st choice course initially.

Students work towards the University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 1 Art, Design and Media Diploma during one year of study. If you have had an interrupted education in mainstream school and need to build confidence and develop your art skills in a supportive environment, then this is the course for you. You will need to have an interest in different art forms, including drawing and painting using different mediums and sculpture. We spend a lot of time in the art rooms so this is a full-on course experimenting with many different methods and materials. In addition to your main programme, you will develop your English and Maths; depending on your grades on entry, you will study either Functional Skills or GCSE. No qualifications are required for this course except an enthusiasm for art, which should be demonstrated at an informal interview prior to selection. You will be asked to present some drawing work prior to interview.

Successfully completing the Level 1 Diploma in Art & Design will provide direct entry onto the Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design. Students can also apply for alternative Level 2 courses within the department that my better suit their career aims such as: Creative Media, Music, Dance and Production Arts.
