A large, detached bungalow with an open plan kitchen and dining room, sensory room with interactive floor, bathroom with LED light changing spa bath, a wet room, utility room and spacious garden with a swing, summer house and sunken trampoline. The facility provides overnight stays with waking or sleep in staff as requested, transport to and from Oaklands can also be arranged. Oaklands supports people with learning new skills and helping them gain independence, as well as organising activities such as baking, trips out, swimming, shopping and walking.

In the community hubs, there is a full range of activities on offer and these will vary depending on the goals that are worked towards together. There are creative sessions such as music, art and drama, and the hubs have large grounds for horticultural and outside fitness activities.
There is also support with very practical things like complex care support needs, medication, or support with independent living skills such as cooking, healthy eating and managing money, through to support with work experience and getting a job. Independence Matters hubs all offer a full Gateway Assured Accredited Learning programme providing opportunities to learn new skills and interests. Depending upon needs and outcomes, support can be on a one-to-one basis or as part of a small groups.

The Hamlet offers a varied timetable which changes on a termly basis, reflecting the needs and interests of students. These include life skills, such as cooking and gardening, creative activities such as arts, crafts, drama and music and health related activities, such as swimming, personal well-being and Special Olympics. They make use of local facilities, including trips to leisure centres, museums, pubs and cafes.
For students with higher levels of need, they will provide an individual timetable, which consists of a balance of one-to-one support and group work to enable them to progress.

Get active and develop personal skills with the Realising Potential programme, based at both The Nest and Carrow Park in Norwich.
Aimed at children and adults with either physical or learning disabilities, the programme includes: Advice and one-to-one support; Multi-sports, dance and other active sessions; CV writing, interview techniques, and personal independence workshops; AQA Personal Development Qualifications; volunteering & employment opportunities, and progression routes to other Foundation programmes
The programme lasts 10-weeks, with activities taking place over two sessions each week. It is free of charge thanks to support from Norfolk Hire, the Professional Footballers’ Association, and donations received through the City Giving programme.
