Travel & Tourism - Level 2

This course is for people who are seeking a career in the travel and tourism industry. It is a lively and busy course with the advantage of interesting trips and visits on which to base your study.

What will I study?

The course consists of compulsory core units and additional specialist units including:

• Customer service and the UK travel and tourism industry
• UK purpose built visitor attractions
• Understanding package holidays
• Travel agency operations
• Hospitality in travel and tourism
• Organising an event
• Introduction to guided tours
• Impact of travel and tourism provision on a host community
• Tourism in a popular UK region
• Know about airports and airlines
• Career planning for travel and tourism
• Work experience in travel and tourism UK coastal tourism
• Heritage and cultural tourism UK rural tourism
• Understanding specialist tourism
• Enterprise in tourism

All of the units, except for two, will be assessed using a variety of methods such as written assignments, presentations, role-play & other practical activities. Subjects are usually introduced in formal classes and students go on to investigate aspects of the subject at local faculties or during study visits.

You will need:

• English grade 4 or higher and maths at grade 3
• At least 3 other GCSEs at grade 3 or above
