A-level Business Studies will help you develop a critical understanding of business behaviour and knowledge of current business strategies and structures.

What will I study?

Over the next two years, you'll delve into a wide array of captivating topics:

What is business?
Managers, leadership and decision making
Decision making to improve marketing performance
Decision making to improve operational performance
Decision making to improve financial performance
Decision making to improve human resource performance
Analysing the strategic position of a business
Choosing strategic direction
Strategic methods: how to pursue strategies
Managing strategic change

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Students will follow a programme which combines class teaching with small group work, discussion, video material, IT and research projects. Homework will be regularly set to aid learning and develop self-study skills. The course will be assessed by three 2 hour exams covering all content above involving, multiple choice, data response, short answers and essay questions.

You will complete three two hour our exams at the end of your second year.

Entry requirements

You will need:

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths and, for this specific subject;
GCSE grade 5 or above in business (if taken)
(If business has not been previously studied then a 5 or above is required in a supporting subject such as geography, RE, history)
GCSE grade 5 or above in English language
GCSE grade 5 or above in maths
