Summary:
This subject will help you develop a working knowledge of materials, practices, technology and specialist vocabulary in textiles.
Course description:

This subject will help you to develop a working knowledge of materials, practises and processes in contemporary textiles. The skills learnt are used to interpret and express ideas. There is a strong element of contextual research and analysis and students are encouraged to research analyse and respond to the work of artists. Practical skills include; printing, dyeing, hand and machine stitch, felt and paper making and weaving.

Assessment:
Assessment methods include a range of practical and creative experimentation contained in a work journal, finished pieces of coursework and a response to a theme set by the exam board requiring a written personal study piece investigating ideas in Textiles to be completed.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a minimum of six GCSEs at grades 9-4, including English Language. Applicants require a minimum of a grade 5 in an Art-based subject (Art, Graphics, Photography or Textiles) OR a suitable portfolio of work.
