Course Summary
This course will cover numerous trades (carpentry, brickwork, groundwork) each week and will leave you in a great position to know what trade you'd like to progress into.
Course Details
Our brand-new construction skills qualification, exclusive to the Wisbech campus, will give you a great grounding on working in construction and a variety of different trades.
The course is a great opportunity to build your skills across a breadth of trades; many construction companies will like the fact that you are skilled across different disciplines but you'll also know which one you'd prefer to do when you think about progressing to a specific course at level 2.
You'll study three different trades for each week (carpentry, brickwork and groundwork) by spending time in our workshops which are designed to replicate the feel of working in the sector. Theory sessions will cover each trade and important aspects of working in the industry, such as health and safety and a general introduction to working in construction.
The following list is an example of what topics may be included:
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Progress and achievement is recorded throughout the year via practical assessments.
Entry requirements
Whilst there are no general grade entry requirements for our level 1 programmes, you will be expected to show:
We will invite you to attend an information session and applicant experience day (if you have been offered a place before May) before you start your course to help ensure that this is the best course for you.
If you're from a home schooled background or you are at an alternative provider, you may be better suited to our Entry Level 3 programmes in construction; which will have smaller class sizes and a different environment.
