Course Summary

Geography is an incredible subject to have under your belt at A level. It is a subject that teaches you about the physical and human processes around you, allowing you to make sense of the world as it changes. Not only this, geography can take you onto a huge variety of subjects and career paths that you may not have even thought were relevant for geography. This is because Geography is a facilitating subject. It tells universities that not only are you a rounded student that understands the world around you but that you have keen analytical, critical and problem solving skills. Geography is particularly well paired with Maths and the Sciences.

Course Details

  • Landscape Systems, Processes and Change – including sub-topic Coastal Landscapes and Change - Coastal landscapes, how they work and how they impact on the places around them

  • Global Development and Connections – including sub-topic Migration, Identity and Sovereignty - International migration not only changes the ethnic composition of populations but also changes attitudes to national identity
  • The specification contains three synoptic themes within the compulsory 1 content areas:

  • The synoptic investigation will be based on a geographical issue within a place-based context that links to the three synoptic themes and is rooted in two or more of the compulsory content areas.
