Course Summary
V Levels are new Level 3 vocational qualifications for 16–19 learners in England. They are designed for students who enjoy learning about a sector and applying knowledge to realistic situations. A V Level is the same size as one A Level, so it can form part of a wider sixth-form programme and can be combined with other Level 3 subjects.
If you are interested in how people learn, how children and young people develop, or how professionals support learners to succeed, the V Level in Education gives you a broad introduction to this sector before you decide where to specialise.
Course Details
The final Department for Education subject content includes areas such as:
Learning & development - How learners develop and how different factors can affect learning.
Supporting learners - Approaches used to help children and young people participate, progress and achieve.
Safe & inclusive practice - Safeguarding, wellbeing, equality, diversity and meeting different learner needs.
The education sector - Professional roles, educational settings, communication and working with others.
Could this course suit me?
I am interested in education, teaching, child development or supporting other people.
I prefer a mixture of learning knowledge and applying it to realistic situations.
I want to keep progression options open for university, apprenticeships or further training.
I am organised, willing to communicate with others and ready for Level 3 study.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The qualification will include both external assessment and non-exam assessment. Students will need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding as well as the ability to apply, analyse and evaluate information in education-related contexts. Exact assessment arrangements depend on the awarding organisation's accredited specification.
IMPORTANT FOR 2027 APPLICANTS
The national subject content and Ofqual requirements are now published, but awarding organisations are still finalising their specifications. Your sixth form will confirm the final awarding body, assessment structure and course details before enrolment.
