Course Summary

Mathematical Studies(Core Maths) is an option choice for students who are looking to keep up to speed with their Maths skills or are interested in learning more about practical applications of Maths. The course is equivalent to an AS-Level and is delivered through two lessons per week. This is to allow the classes to both to support your other studies as well as to minimise the impact on your main subject choices. You will earn around 20UCAS points for this qualification.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Students who typically study core maths go on to study subjects like biology, physics, business, engineering, economics, psychology, geography, environmental science or other areas which value quantitative reasoning and problem solving.

Entry requirements

Core Maths will require a grade 4 in GCSE Mathematics.

Entry criteria is a guide and interviews will be conducted with candidates to confirm if they are suitable to follow their selected courses.

Your next steps...

  • Equivalent to half an A-level.
  • Builds confidence with maths in contexts like budgeting, data analysis, and critical thinking.
