Course Summary

This qualification is designed to stimulate interest and encourage the learners’ understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for young children. The qualification will cover a diverse range of units, giving core understanding of working with and caring for children aged from birth to 5 years and 11 months. The units cover both Personal development and the development and growth of babies and young children. It will also explore the value of a healthy lifestyle and diet, communication and learning, aspects of play, importance of building children's' confidence, human lifespan from birth to elderly.

Course Details

This programme will give students the basic knowledge and understanding of the key areas caring for children. It can also help you to develop transferable skills which can be used later in all forms of employment.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The course will be internally assessed by a range of methods. This could include tasks such as planners, posters, leaflets, presentations, practical or written assignments.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English Language and Maths.

Candidates should demonstrate commitment, motivation and an enthusiasm for working within the Childcare sector. A successful completion of Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check (which does involve a fee). Candidates are invited to attend an informal interview and provide a reference.
