CACHE Level 1 in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children's & Young People's Settings

This qualification is aimed at people considering a career in health and/or social care with adults or working with children and young people.

You will study a variety of units over one year including:

• Provision of roles in Health, Social Care and Childcare
• Principles and values in Health, Social Care and Childcare
• Awareness of safeguarding
• Introduction to communication
• Awareness of equality and inclusion
• Awareness of health and safety

You will need to have achieved 2 GCSEs at grade 2 (E) or above.

Once at the college you will have to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check. It is not possible to complete the course without satisfactory clearance. It is also a requirement that students on this course are independent workers within the placement settings. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

On completing the qualification, learners who wish to pursue a career in either Health or Social Care or Childcare can progress to other Level 1 or 2 qualifications such as the NCFE CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children and the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years practitioner, or the BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Health and Social Care.
