About us

The Garage is a centre for performing arts located in Norwich city centre which supports the creative journeys of participants, audiences and artists.

The year round programme includes open access performing arts classes, projects, live performances and support for the development of new creative work.

We're a charity with a mission to change people's lives through art.

You can find us on Twitter @_thegarage, Facebook @garage.norwich, Instagram @thegaragenorwich and on LinkedIn under The Garage Trust.

We've a sister venue in King's Lynn called The Workshop.

Student support

Our highly energetic team work tirelessly to support and nurture cohorts while they study with us, helping them reach them potential. We offer an inclusive approach to learning and treat each student as an individual within the overall cohort or team group. We will support them as they continue their journey and progress onto the next steps in their training and career as a performing artist. Bursaries and scholarships are available and we can help students source funding for their chosen course(s).

What makes us different?

We place excellence and progression at the centre of our courses, grounding our programmes in rigorous vocational training to prepare students for working life in the arts.

We believe our Quality Assured courses take advantage of our professional facilities and highly-skilled and qualified tutors to enhance students' time with us.

The extended performance and workshop opportunities that being in a dynamic arts venue provides, alongside the added value of professional practitioners working with our students as emerging artists, sets our courses apart from others.

Our education faculty have a wealth of experience from school and college teaching to managing performance projects and lecturing at higher education. All our staff have crucial experience within the industry and we use these real world skills to enhance our delivery.

As a professional performing arts organisation we are proud to offer something different to the normal education progression routes. We embed all our teaching and student development into the professional performing arts industry as well as offering extra benefits that traditional colleges and universities cannot provide.
