Course Summary

Volunteer it Yourself is a not for profit organisation which provides trade and construction work experience opportunities to young people, alongside mentoring and support to progress into trade and construction opportunities. We are undertaking community renovation/ social action projects in King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, offering young people trade and construction on- site experience and:

Bite-sized volunteering opportunities to learn construction trade skills and boost their employability

Mentoring on site by professional tradespeople

Opportunity to gain an Entry Level 3 City & Guilds qualification in Painting and Decorating, and/or Health and Safety. Other qualifications may also be available, depending on the projects and mentors.

Participation in employability workshops

Support and guidance to young people interested in exploring further opportunities in the trade and construction sector

Support in gaining CSCS cards is also available

Course Details

Project: Jubilee Clinic (Heacham)

Where: Pound Lane, Heacham, King’s Lynn, PE31 7ET

Dates: 19th May – 4th June

What: Carpentry (battens and skirting adjustments); Insulation & drylining (insulated plasterboard); Painting & decorating (internal refurbishment); Flooring (replacing existing finishes)

It’s super simple – first come, first served, with a limited amount of places on each project!:

Young people register with your local VIY Youth Engagement Co-ordinator, jojo@teamviy.com or 07771 628667. You can also talk to your adviser who will help you complete a referral and application.

Each learner receives a Welcome Pack and call from us before they join to make sure they’re prepped and ready to join.

Entry requirements

No entry requirements, the opportunity is open to young people aged 14–24

Our skilled trade mentors are passionate about passing on their knowledge, ensuring learners gain valuable hands-on experience in a supportive environment. If you’d like to learn more about us and what we do, we’d be happy to arrange a call or Teams meeting to discuss further.
