Course Summary

Aspire 16 Plus is a transitional programme aimed at personal and social development rather than academic attainment. Our aim is to equip you with the necessary skills to successfully progress onto your chosen pathway.

Who is eligible?

Students who are unsure of their next steps and want to explore their options

Students who need a softer transition to college

Students who would benefit from a nurturing and supportive learning environment

The pathways we offer:

Personal Development Pathway (aimed at those looking to progress onto further study)

Our timetable allows you to engage in the following subjects and activities:

Maths and English (GCSE or Functional Skills depending on prior attainment)

Personal and social development including induction to college, drug and alcohol awareness, interview skills, healthy living, career planning and managing money.

Co-Curricular - social engagement combining off-site trips and visits with access to local recreational and educational activities. Examples include cooking, sport, team-building activities, fundraising enterprises and community engagement. You will also have access to a residential trip.

Skills Academy - access to vocational taster sessions in line with our current curriculum offer.

Employability Pathway (aimed at those preparing for the workplace)

Our timetable allows you to engage in the following subjects and activities:

Maths and English (GCSE or Functional Skills depending on prior attainment)

Employability Skills package including customer service skills, interview skills, health and safety in the workplace and self-management skills for work.

Ready2Work Day with employer interactions, work-place visits, guest speakers, career days community projects and work experience.

Please note – A work experience placement is a compulsory element of this pathway.

All students are expected to engage in all elements of your chosen pathway and are not able to select individual elements to enrol on.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements needed, however a willingness to attend, engage and learn will be need and determined during our assessment process.

Your next steps...

For students on our Personal Development Pathway, you could progress onto a Step-Into College course, Level 1 vocational college course or move onto our Academic Progression programme.

For students on our Employability Pathway, you could progress onto MINT, an apprenticeship or full-time employment (18+).
