Course Details

This programme is equivalent to three A Levels and can provide access into either apprenticeships or university courses. It is intended to provide a broad range of knowledge, skills, and experiences to allow you to progress into your chosen specialist area of engineering.

Students selecting this course will have a clear determination and passion for the subject.

Engineering students will need high levels of resilience to keep up with the challenge of the coursework assessed elements, and effective time management and independent study skills to achieve in the examined elements.

The T Level programme includes the following compulsory elements:

Technical Qualification (TQ), which includes:

  • Engineering Core Learning
  • Industrial Project
  • Occupational Specialist Related Coursework
  • Industry placement with an employer up to 45 days

In Year One you will complete the core learning element, topics will include:

  • Applied Science and Mathematics
  • Electrical and Mechanical Principles
  • Electrical and Mechanical Design
  • Computer Aided Design
  • Control Engineering
  • Materials Science
  • Electrical and Mechanical Simulation
  • Business for Engineering and Project Management

You will also apply the core learning to solve an industry set project.

What Can You Expect In Lessons?

From day one, the sheer range of engineering topics and sectors addressed in this course will keep you engaged and busy. This is a two year course where each lesson will provide you with a new challenge, initially focused on developing basic knowledge and skills, all of which start to come together and allow you to apply them to industrial contexts and problem solving projects and coursework.

Entry requirements

  • Grade 5 in Mathematics
  • Grade 4 in English Language
  • Merit 2 in BTEC Engineering (if previously studied) or grade 4
  • 32 GCSE Points Recommended
