Computing and digital design has become a key component of almost every business on the planet in the last 25 years and is expanding exponentially, becoming more and more integral to every aspect of daily life. The digital sector contributed nearly £55 billion to the UK economy in 2016 and it continues to grow, providing strong career security with flexible working.

The flagship qualification of this new school is the Digital Production, Design and Development T Level, or the Software Development T Level for short. It is a high level, employer driven course aimed at teaching you the basics of computer science, cyber security and most importantly how to utilise professional programming languages to create a variety of software and applications. This could include games, web applications, mobile applications or even data analysis and machine learning systems.

This course is unique because it is the first T Level qualification in Digital Design and Computing. It utilises the most up to date specification in the ever changing world of digital technologies. Access Creative College can offer an environment which is purely for people wanting to specialise in their subject field. You’ll be surrounded by Games Artists, Sound Engineers, Videographers who will contribute to the expansion of your skills in a way you might not have expected, through creative collaboration.

The course is designed by employers such as IBM and Fujitsu to develop the specific skills needed to thrive in a Software Development career. Not only was it designed by employers but the purpose of a T Level (Technical Level) is to get you out into the world of work to practise what you’re learning. So, to pass this course you will need to complete a 315 hour (45 day work placement).

The course is based around learning to use IDEs (Integrated Development Environment) and programming languages such as Javascript and Python. You will learn the essential knowledge behind all digital roles by understanding data and digital systems, how software and business interact, security, testing, planning and legal issues. You then build on this by developing specialist skills in understanding user needs and designing and developing digital systems. In order to do this you will use our fully equipped computers with the latest technology and have access to all the relevant language/coding platform software and IDEs.

• This course takes you through the entire software development process, nurturing your problem-solving and programming skills using Python, C#, and JavaScript.
  
• Dive into the realm of emerging technologies, including AI and VR, and acquire in-demand business-critical competencies such as data analysis, network infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
  
• Throughout the course, you’ll embark on a 45-day industry placement, working with local digital companies and their software developers on real-world projects. This hands-on experience ensures you’re industry-ready.
  

This course is for students who are passionate about computing and the science involved in coding. But, we want your passion and commitment to develop above all else. You will need to demonstrate that you are able to work at Level 3 (A Level standard). This means achieving at least four GCSEs at grades 4-9 (C-A*), including English and mathematics, or other equivalent qualifications. Other grades will be considered on a case by case basis.

Completing this course means you will be prepared to enter many career routes including Software Development Technician, Web Developer, Application Developer, Games Developer, Artificial Intelligence Developer, Programmer to name a few.
