Application Instructions

We ask for a minimum GCSE score of 5 grades at grade 4 or above in five different subjects including English Language and Mathematics. We accept equivalent Level 2 qualifications such as BTEC and OCR Nationals but will only count them as 1 grade.

In addition most subjects require at least a grade 5 at GCSE in order to take them at Level 3. Maths and Science subjects require a grade 6.

Is this course for me?

It is a challenging and thought provoking specification as it demands students learn to think logically and write skilfully. Simply from the viewpoint of the skills it builds, it is a course worth doing. It is a popular course and encourages learners to adopt an enquiring, critical, and reflective approach to the study of religion. It allows students to reflect on and develop their own values and opinions in light of their study. Due to the diverse nature of the course and the range of interesting topics, it is a popular choice at A Level.

Course Details

There are two areas of study. Philosophy of Religion looks at some big question - is this life all there is and if now, how do we know? How do we know if God exists? How do we explain so much suffering? Religious Ethis examines the question of how we decide what is right and wrong in areas like medicine, business an international relations.

Entry requirements

It is not necessary to have studied GCSE Religious Studies, but students should have the minimum entry requirements for the VI Form.
