Course Details
Do you want to deepen your understanding of how the universe works, as well as developing invaluable problem-solving skills?
A Level Physics will allow you to study the world around you at every level, from the smallest particle, to galaxies remote in space and time. The theoretical topics are always related to practical applications, with the teaching of practical skills incorporated throughout the course.
The first year of the course mainly builds on topics you will have already studied at GCSE, while most of the second year topics are brand new and will not have been studied before.
Entry requirements
Must meet overall entry criteria for A Level study.
You will need a minimum GCSE grade 6 in Maths and a 6 in Science (core) and a 6 in Additional Science or GCSE Physics.
If you wish to study two or more A Level Science or Maths courses, you will need to meet the entry criteria for a Science A Level programme too.
There will be opportunities for trips to see physics in use in industry and the chance to hear lectures.
Your next steps...
Most students progress onto degrees in scientific subjects such as engineering, medicine, electronics, architecture and physical sciences. Physics is also a useful foundation for subjects such as law, finance, business and IT.
Physics graduates are not only highly sought after and well suited to careers which directly involve science and engineering, but also in the financial and business sectors too.
