Course Summary
Is this course for me?
Studying Mathematics A-level will
• Increase knowledge and understanding of a variety of mathematical techniques and their applications.
• Provide a stimulating and challenging course.
• Develop key employability skills such as logical reasoning, problem solving, communication and resilience.
• Provide excellent support for the study of other A level subjects and preparation for a wide range of university courses.
All of the content in A level maths is prescribed by the DfE and hence is the same across all examination boards. At KES Academy we currently follow the Edexcel syllabus.
Full support is offered both in and out of the classroom with individual student logins to the Integral website.
What will I learn?
• Pure Mathematics – methods and techniques that underpin all other areas of mathematics, such as, proof, algebra, trigonometry, coordinate geometry and calculus.
• Statistics – data presentation, statistical sampling and probability leading to the study of statistical distributions.
• Mechanics – study of the physical world, modelling of the motion of objects and the forces acting on them.
Research suggests that students who study A level mathematics go on to earn more in wages in their working life.
Mathematics is relevant to many different areas not just STEM subjects.
