Course Summary

This course is equivalent to a GCSE level course. It will increase your knowledge and awareness of children and young people’s mental health.

If you aspire to have a career working alongside children and young people, this course will provide you with extremely beneficial knowledge. Whether you wish to become a teacher, to go into children's nursing, or to go into social work, you will learn key information to support progression onto further qualifications and into relevant employment in the health and social care or education sectors.


Course Details

What will I learn?

You will study 5 units which centre around children and young people's mental health, including;

• Different factors that might affect mental health

• Behaviours associated with mental health concerns

• Researching a range of mental health conditions

• The impact on family, friends, and education

• How professionals can support with mental health concerns

These skills will prepare you for Level 3 study in a related area.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

This course is 100% internally assessed - you will create a portfolio of evidence.

Entry requirements

Grade 3 or above in GCSE English Language.

This course will enhance your knowledge on children and young people's mental health. You will also develop your independent research skills, and evaluation skills, whilst gaining a GCSE equivalent qualification which will be invaluable if you want to progress to Level 3 studies.
