Course Summary
Health and Social Care is a subject for people who like to know how we can care about the different people that live in our society and how we can provide the best levels of care for all. After studying Health and Social Care you will have a much better understanding of how the care industry works and the requirements of staff in the industry. Health and Social Care also gives us insights into the human body and how it works, how sometimes it has malfunctions and how a nutritious diet impacts on a person's mental and physical state.
Course Details
This 'Tech Level' diploma course gives students the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to higher education on programmes such as health and social care, nursing, social work or early childhood studies.
Students will learn by applying their skills, knowledge and understanding to tasks directly relevant to health, social care and childcare workplaces.
The course covers a wide range of topics including building positive relationships; equality, diversity and rights; health, safety and security; and anatomy and physiology. The curriculum has been put together with universities and employers, giving students the transferable skills, knowledge and understanding that they are looking for in prospective applicants.
The course involves independent study, paired work, group work, role play and hands on practical experiences.
There are SIX parts to Health and Social Care. You will study:

(3) Health, Safety and Security (Exam) M
(4) Anatomy and Physiology (Exam) M
(5) Nutrition (Coursework) O
(6) Caring for those with Mental Health Needs (Coursework) O
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs Level 9-4, Level 5 in relevant subject area.
If you are doing Level 2 HSC you need to get a Level 2 Pass Grade.
If you are not doing Level 2 HSC then you need to get a Grade 5+ in Science.
