Our full time Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Development and Coaching qualification is wrapped into either a tailored Sports Coaching or Sports Science pathway and is designed to inspire the next generation of coaches, sport scientists, analysts, teachers and many other sport careers. All while providing learners with the opportunity to continue their Football development or train towards their chosen sport.

Delivered by Highly qualified tutors and coaches within a fantastic sport environment at The FDC Norwich, learners can truly kick off a career in sports, learning the theory and skills within the onsite education facilities to getting practical on the fantastic 4G pitch and hands on with innovative industry coaching technology.

For those keen on a career in coaching, we provide support towards working towards your FA Coaching badges along with valuable community, grass roots and football academy coaching experiences.

For students looking towards a career in Sports Science, Performance Analysis or Health & Fitness they will develop skills knowledge and experiences of the key areas within he physical activity and sports science sector. All while using industry relevant analytical and performance technology such as VEO cameras and PlayerTek GPS vests.

Both pathways provides learners the opportunity to build an impressive CV of experience and opportunities and support progression onto University, U.S Scholarships, apprenticeships and future careers in the sports industry.

This Level 3 Extended Diploma is a Full Time 2 Year Course. Learners will achieve a Foundation Diploma in Year 1 and an Extended Diploma upon completion in Year 2

Course Details

YEAR 1

In year 1 students will work across a variety of industry disciplines. These include: Careers in Sport, Sports Coaching, Sporting Performance and Analysis, Physical and Mental Health, and Sports Science.

  • Health, Wellbeing & Sport
  • Develop Coaching Skills
  • Sports Development
  • Self-Employment within Sport & Physical Activity
  • Practical Sports Application

Each area of study will include key Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours involved within them, with learners given the opportunity to practice these throughout the week. Learners will experience a range of practical and classroom based lessons, with all assignments being assessed internally using various methods including written assignments, practical assignments, spoken assignments and project works.


YEAR 2

Your course will have a specific focus on key skill sets, knowledge and areas of effective application with the Sports Industry including sports psychology, anatomy and physiology, fitness testing, coaching and your chosen research project.

  • Fitness Testing
  • Technical and Lactic Skills in Sport
  • Applied Coaching Skills
  • Research Project in Sport

The aim is to prepare and develop your ability across a multitude of integral subjects ready for progression onto university, U.S Scholarship, career start or alternative exit routes.

Linked with our Coaching or Sports Science pathways, this course will develop your knowledge and understanding of the Sports Industry, help create an attractive CV, and consolidate positive employability skills.

100% Assessment

There are no exams within this qualification

Entry requirements

Learners ideally need to achieve 5GCSE grades at 4-9 (ideally including Maths & English)

Learners can resit GCSE Maths & English exams if required alongside their course
