WHAT WILL I STUDY?

WHAT WILL I STUDY?
Students will investigate a topic of their choice beyond the normal confines of an A Level qualification and in doing so demonstrate that they have many of the key skills which are essential for successful University study.
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED?
The project may be an extended essay on any topic (up to 5,000 words) supported by a presentation (usually involving a PowerPoint) as part of the submission. In this, students talk about their project and answer questions from a non-specialist audience. However, the project could also be a play, a piece of art, a model or a film, again accompanied by some form of presentation involving answering questions. For example, if the project was to create a work of art, this could be exhibited and the student could answer questions about the work.

Entry requirements

WHERE NEXT?
Although it is not an essential part of university course, the Extended Project will provide students with excellent evidence to include on a personal statement. Successful completion of an Extended Project shows that students can work independently, research, plan, argue and present. For this reason it would be of real advantage for anyone applying to a university for any degree course.
