Course Summary
Whether you love fiction, autobiographies, poems, plays, newspapers or creative writing, English Language and Literature is the subject for anyone who loves stories. You’ll explore a variety of texts whilst discovering how Language and Literature has been used to challenge social, historical and political stances.
Course Details
Studying the integrated English Language and Literature course allows students to engage creatively and independently with a variety of spoken, written and multi-modal texts. Students explore how linguistic and literary methods are related and to explore these links in their work.
Offering clear progression from GCSE, this course allows students to build on the skills and knowledge already gained and prepare for their next step. The variety of assessment styles used, such as re-creative writing, commentary writing, discursive essays and research-based investigative writing, allows students to develop a wide range of skills. These include the ability to read critically, analyse, evaluate and undertake independent research, which are invaluable for both further study and future employment.

5 GCSEs Level 9-4, Level 5 in the relevant subject area.
You will need to get a Grade 5+ in both English Language and English Literature.
