6 GCSEs Grades 9-4 (or equivalent), including Grade 4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)

The WJEC Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology is an engaging qualification that combines elements of law, psychology and sociology to explore crime, criminal behaviour and the criminal justice system. Equivalent in size to one A Level, the course is designed for students who are interested in understanding why crime occurs, how society responds to offending and how justice is delivered.

You will investigate real-life criminal cases, analyse evidence, evaluate different explanations for criminal behaviour and examine the effectiveness of crime prevention and punishment. Throughout the course, you will develop valuable transferable skills including research, critical thinking, analysis, evaluation, communication and problem solving.

Through two 90 minute externally marked written examinations and teacher marked assignments.

6 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths; Grade 5 Business or Grade 5 in Maths if Business not taken

You could apply for degree courses in criminology, criminal justice, psychology, sociology and law. There are employment and apprenticeship opportunities including those in the Police and other uniformed services, social services, the courts and criminal justice service, youth services and probation.
