The media plays a central role in contemporary culture, society and politics, shaping our perceptions of the world and offers you the opportunity to develop an informed understanding of the key issues through critical exploration, analysis and debate.
You will develop high-level communication skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively. You will also develop your knowledge of digital processes and software through practical projects which are advantageous if applying for future roles in marketing, media sales as well as publishing, updating websites and hosting content.
Through the A level learners can focus on theoretical content, although instruction in practical, print production methods and website design, so you have the opportunity to put the theory you have learnt into practice. Essay writing forms an essential part of the course and the academic and specialised skills gained on the course are intended to be transferable through to further studies or employment.
Through the BTEC learners gain a broad understanding of the subject and learn the skills to produce media artefacts. They develop their ability to analyse and deconstruct media images and representations. They learn the communication and planning skills needed to work in teams through vocational media projects.
