Course Details

This programme bridges the gap between domestic cooking and the skills and knowledge needed for employment within the catering industry. This is designed for students who need additional support and may have a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The course has two possible routes one leading to City and Guilds Entry 3 Introduction to the Hospitality Industry Certificate, and the other, Gateway Level 1 Skills for Hospitality and Catering Certificate. Both groups study the hospitality industry, its range and opportunities, customer service and practical kitchen skills. English and maths are embedded through practical and theory as well as stand alone classes. Independence is encouraged in the practical session as well as developing employability skills such as time keeping, communication, teamwork and organisational skills, allowing the student to build self esteem and confidence.

Entry requirements

A minimum of Entry level 1 in English and maths. Informal interview when you will need to demonstrate the commitment, motivation and enthusiasm to succeed on the course.

Your next steps...
