Course Summary
The course duration is 24 months.
Students will be at College 1 day a week to evidence the 20% off job with evidenced employer training alongside.
Carry out first fix flooring and roofing
• Carry out first fix frames, partitions and stairs
• Carry out second fix operations
• Carry out carpentry maintenance
• Set up and operate circular saw
• Health, safety and welfare in construction
• Principles of building construction, information and communications
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Your skills and knowledge will be continuously assessed throughout the course both in college and in the workplace; additionally each technical unit will be assessed by end multiple choice examinations and practical tests.
Support will be provided through regular meetings with your assessor.
The Level 2 Apprenticeship is assessed by end-point assessment which comprises of:
Knowledge Assessment: A 45-minute short written test consisting of 35 questions. The questions are designed to assess the apprentice's understanding of the core and specific knowledge and behavioural requirements. The Knowledge Assessment will be delivered in a controlled invigilated environment approved by the Awarding Body.
Practical Assessment: A skills test that requires the apprentice to complete a practical activity and will include oral questioning, where required to ensure the apprentice has the Skills, supporting Knowledge and Behaviours for the chosen job role. The test for Site Carpentry will take a minimum of 6 hours to complete.

In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the college as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level.
Remember, an apprenticeship is a job so the hiring employer may have additional criteria that will have to be met alongside CRC’s entry criteria. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

Successful completion of all elements of the intermediate apprenticeship you can progress on to the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.

Find the apprenticeship programme that you are interested in and express an interest in it by completing an application on MyChoice@16 and you will be signed up to our job alerts to keep you up-to-date with all the latest apprenticeship job vacancies.
You can also search the latest apprenticeship vacancies on the listing on our website and apply for a job.
Once you have secured an apprenticeship job with an employer you will then be enrolled on the programme with the College.
It is recommended that you also apply for a full-time course as a back up just in case you are not able to source a suitable job in time for September.
