Course Summary

This Apprenticeship Standard is suitable for people working in wellbeing environments; Spa, Leisure, Holistic or Wellness Therapy centres, Medi-spas, and Beauty salons. Apprentices will create, implement, and adapt tailored holistic and wellbeing experiences, in a variety of environments, meeting and managing treatment and experience outcomes in private, secure and safe environments. Wellbeing and Holistic therapists’ complete treatments and wellbeing experiences via holistic therapy principles, theories, and applications to calm or stimulate the sensory experiences of the body and mind to optimise the function and balance of the physical, emotional and mental aspects of daily life.

Wellbeing therapist apprentices will cover specific treatments such as aromatherapy, acupressure (manual digit pressure massage applied by the hands to specific points on the face or body) and holistic massage (therapeutic hands-on massage therapy that affects the clients physical, emotional and mental wellbeing), Indian head massage, lymphatic drainage and wellness experiences. They provide post treatment aftercare and make future recommendations.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.

There are three stages of assessment:

1. On-programme stage – Formal observations and online knowledge exams
2. Gateway stage - successful completion of the Diploma units, the Standards knowledge, skills and behaviours, functional skills and off the job training hours
3. End-point assessment (graded). Observation of performance - practical assessment on clients and oral questioning/professional discussion completed by an external examiner.

This Standard is delivered at college for 1 day per week and reinforced in the workplace. This will develop the skills set, knowledge-based elements of the Apprenticeship, Values and Behaviours, Functional Skills and meet the 20% off the job training.

Functional skills are delivered and assessed in a variety of ways at college, with flexibility, relating to your employer and the service industry sector.

Entry requirements

This Level 3 Standard is for people who wish to progress in a Wellbeing and Holistic Therapist Career

To enrol onto an Apprenticeship, you must be employed over 30 hours per week in relevant employment, please contact us should you need help in finding suitable employment.

Apprentices are paid a wage by the employer. Your employer is required to give you a contract of employment, which will include holiday entitlement and all other benefits. Your clientele should provide you with the opportunities the Standard and Diplomas’ Barbering skills, knowledge, and behaviours.

Entry onto the L3 Apprenticeship Standard requires:
The Beauty Therapist Standard or Advanced Beauty Therapist Standard or Level 2/L3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
Entry onto the L3 Apprenticeship Framework or standard requires C Grades / Grade 4 or above or Level 2 Functional Skills/GCSEs in Maths and English
All applicants will be interviewed and complete an initial assessment for maths and English and the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to become a professional Wellbeing and Holistic Therapist. The offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process.

Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

This programme provides you with a Level 3 Standard in Wellbeing and Holistic Therapist and the skills necessary to enable you to work in industry as a qualified Therapist with possible progression on to becoming a Spa Manager.
