Advanced Beauty Therapist (L3) Apprenticeship Standard

The Advanced Beauty Therapist Standard is ideal for people working in Beauty environments. This Standard includes providing, designing, and implementing bespoke treatment plans. These advanced treatments range from advanced manual therapies such as advanced massage techniques, technical therapies such as face and body electrical treatments, to meet and manage client needs and expectations. They implement organisational operations (salon business systems and processes, data protection) to comply with legal and regulatory requirements, contribute to financial the effectiveness of the business, maintaining and maximising resources, (people, equipment and consumables).

Some of the Knowledge Skills and behaviours covered in this Advanced Standard are:

Complete advanced consultations
Design, implement and perform advanced bespoke manual therapies on the face, scalp and body, as a single or course of treatment,
Design, implement and perform advanced facial technical (electrical or mechanical) therapy treatments. Therapy techniques/current types: galvanic, micro-current, microdermabrasion, low intensity led light, skin warming devices, high/radio frequency, lymphatic drainage equipment.
Design, implement and perform advanced body technical (electrical or mechanical) therapy treatments. Therapy techniques/current types: galvanic, micro-current, led light, skin warming devices, high/radio frequency, electrical muscle stimulation and lymphatic drainage equipment.
Provide post treatment aftercare and product advice for advanced manual and technical therapies
Supervise individual and team activities
Maintain safe and effective methods of working in accordance with organisational operations. Apply and implement organisational operations to secure, maintain and promote business growth.

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.

There are three stages of assessment:

1. On-programme stage – Formal observations and online knowledge exams
2. Gateway stage - successful completion of the Standards knowledge, skills and behaviours, functional skills/GCSEs and off the job training hours
3. End-point assessment (graded). Observation of performance - practical assessment on clients and oral questioning/professional discussion completed by an external examiner.

This Standard is delivered at college for 1 day per week and reinforced in the workplace. This will develop the skills set, knowledge-based elements of the Apprenticeship, Values and Behaviours, Functional Skills/GCSEs and meet the 20% off the job training.

Functional skills/GCSEs are delivered and assessed in a variety of ways at college, with flexibility, relating to your employer and the service industry sector.

This Level 3 Standard is for people who wish to progress in a Beauty Therapist Career

To enrol onto an Apprenticeship, you must be employed over 30 hours per week in relevant employment, please contact us should you need help in finding suitable employment.

Apprentices are paid a wage by the employer. Your employer is required to give you a contract of employment, which will include holiday entitlement and all other benefits. Your clientele should provide you with the opportunities the Standard and Diplomas’ advanced beauty skills, knowledge, and behaviours.

Entry onto the L3 Apprenticeship Standard requires:
The Beauty Therapist Standard or Advanced Beauty Therapist Standard or Level 2/L3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
2 x C Grades/ Grade 3 or above in Maths and English.
All applicants will be interviewed and complete an initial assessment for maths and English and the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to become a professional Beauty Therapist. The offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

This programme provides you with a Level 3 Standard in Advanced Beauty Therapy and the skills necessary to enable you to work in industry as a qualified Therapist with possible progression on to becoming a manager. Next steps may include progression onto the Wellbeing and Holistic Therapist Apprenticeship Standard.

Once you have secured an apprenticeship job with an employer you will then be enrolled on the programme with the College.

It is recommended that you also apply for a full-time course as a back up just in case you are not able to source a suitable job in time for September.
