V Levels

What are V Levels?

From September 2027, students in England will be able to choose V Levels, a new vocational qualification that combines practical learning with knowledge linked to real career sectors. Each V Level will be equivalent in size to one A Level.

Who are they for?

V Levels may suit you if you:

  • Enjoy learning through projects and practical activities.
  • Want a vocational option but aren't ready to specialise in one career.
  • Would like a programme that includes a mix of vocational and academic learning.
  • Want to keep options open for university or an apprenticeship.

What subjects will be available first?

The first V Levels are planned in:

  • Digital
  • Education and Early Years
  • Finance and Accounting

More subjects are expected to be introduced over time.
