Course Summary
Our Engineering Study Programmes include vehicle maintenance and welding and fabrication. These are both a starting point for aspiring mechanics or welders, as it focuses on the essential skills and knowledge required to thrive in these industries.
You will experience collaborative learning in a dynamic classroom environment led by specialised tutors, complemented by hands-on training at our fully equipped workshops at our engineering centre in Norwich. Your learning will be recorded on an easy-to-use e-portfolio platform.
Course Details
This study programme is an ideal introduction into the welding industry; the programme teaches you the art of welding in our dedicated welding and fabrication workshop. The workshop is stocked with state-of-the-art equipment such as TIG, MIG, oxy gas, thermal cutting, sheet work and plate work and more.
Units include:
- Manual Metal Arc Welding
- Oxy-Acetylene Welding
- Tungsten Inert Gas Welding
- Metal Inert Gas Welding
- Brazing and Soldering
- Metal Fabrication
- Thermal Cutting Techniques
The course will also offer:
- Functional Skills Maths (if required)
- Functional Skills English (if required)
Entry requirements
You must be between the ages of 16-18. There are no formal academic entry requirements; however, an initial selection interview is mandatory.
Costs:
If you are 16-18 there are no course fees payable, however you may have some costs associated with uniform, equipment etc.
