Progressions is an accessible and inclusive course for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. this course can be a progression route for students who have been on the Links course, or an entry course for students coming to us straight from school.
progressions has a varied timetable, which can be adapted to meet the needs of the students. Subjects include Cooking, Horticulture, Art, Travel Training, Community, Sport, Science and more. Maths and English are a key part of the timetable, and taught in a functional and enjoyable way. Students can take their Functional Skills qualifications if this is appropriate to them, but it is not a requirement of the course. The curriculum has an emphasis on the skills needed for the students to become more independent, and to move on to the next level of education.
We focus heavily on the individual needs and aspirations of our students, using personal targets and criteria based around building independence, work skills and progression. We strive to encourage our students to consider their future options and plan for realistic goals, making transition to the next step part of the course.
Students' needs are assessed prior to enrolment to ensure that their needs are addressed during the year. Students are supported appropriately throughout the day, including breaks, until they leave the college at the end of the day.
Progressions is a course designed to build confidence, motivation and independence skills. Students are encouraged to build on their existing skills and become the best that they can be.
Assessment is generally informal and completed through observation, progress towards individual targets and feedback.
No formal entry requirements. A course designed to build confidence and encourage independent behaviour in a learning environment. All students will have moderate to severe learning difficulties/disabilities. Interview required
